V'ten Tal UMatar

04/12/2014 02:00:38 PM

Dec4

As you may be aware, there are times during the year when we pray for rain and there are times that we don’t.

Generally speaking, we commence praying for rain at Maariv on Dec 4 - THIS evening.

When praying the weekday Amida (Shmoneh Esreh) please insert the words “v’ten tal u’matar l’vracha” ותן טל ומטר לברכה in the blessing of Barech Aleinu. You will find it in the Artscroll Siddur:

Maariv: Page 270

Shacharit: Page 104

Mincha: Page 238

(If you finish the Amida without saying v’ten tal u’matar l’vracha you must repeat the entire Amida

If you have not finished and remember before reciting the blessing Shema Koleinu, you can insert it in that blessing before the words ki ata shame’a tephilat kol peh.

If you remember after saying the blessing Shema Koleinu  but before ending the Amida, you must return to Barech Aleinu, insert it, and then repeat the Amida from there.)

May Hashem shower  you with blessings, both materially and spiritually!
