Dear [first_name]

The expectation, the excitement and the sheer energy in Sydney is palpable as we prepare to keep this Shabbos together with Jews all over the world.

Shabbat Project commenced full at South Head on this week with the Kids Challah Bake on Tuesday night attracting over 40 children (see photos below). This was followed on Wednesday night with the Women’s Challah bake with well over 100 participants  In a fun, moving and spiritual evening, the women were blessed to have Rebbetzin Henya and Mrs Esther Wein reveal the depth of Challah and its pertinence to Jewish women today.

On behalf of all of us at South Head a huge Yasher Koach to the general organising committee for their outstanding work.

And on behalf of the Rebbetzin and all of us at South Head, wishing hatzlocha raba to Jodi Kofsky and South Head’s organizing committee for the events taking place at our Shule and within our community.

We look forward to celebrating a truly joyful and inspiring Shabbos with you all. Our Rabbis tell us that if all Jews were to keep one Shabbos, Moshiach would surely come. May it be this Shabbos that finally sets us free!

A good and wonderful Shabbos to you all,

Rabbi Benzion Milecki OAM

P.S. After nearly 15 years of dedicated service at South Head, my PA Helen Meyer is moving on.

During her time with us, Helen has put her heart and soul into our Shul, and formed close relationships with many of our congregants.

In particular, her persistence and hard work have been instrumental in making our highly regarded JLI courses the success that they are today.

The Rebbetzin and I, together with all of us at South Head, wish Helen much success in her future endeavours and know that the friendships she has made in our community will last a life time.

The Algemeiner Journal
Tzivia Jacobson

"...  it sounded strange — algemein means “general,” or “for everybody,” so literally, the newspaper was called Everyone’s Journal. But the Rebbe explained that this would immediately convey to the reader that it was for  him. Furthermore, the Rebbe said that the paper should not be connected with any group or institution, including Chabad. He wanted the newspaper totally independent where anybody could write anything they wanted.    full story

RECOMMENDED LIBRARY READING

SHABBAT THE RIGHT WAY; Resolving Halachic Dilemmas, by Rabbi J. Simcha Cohen

This valuable publication addresses the question of Shabbat observance and also analyses the Halachic process by which the answers are derived. Rabbi Cohen states that he hopes that this book will assist contemporary Jews to have a greater understanding of Shabbat observances and thereby increase the joy of Shabbat.

Shabbat Shalom,
