The blood curdling terror on Israeli streets these past two weeks is very different to anything Israel has experienced in the past.
It is not organised by a central body, nor is it the work of individual terrorist cells.
As in Sydney, but on a far bigger scale, it is carried out by lone-wolfs without previous criminal records or terrorist associations.
It is carried out by your neighbour, your repairman.
It comes without “noise”, it comes without warning.
There is no siren; no Iron Dome to predict or protect.
Prevention is almost impossible.
No doubt authorities both here and in Israel will eventually find the means - legal and physical - to curtail the incitement that leads to these attacks.
In the meantime, our brothers and sisters in Israel are scared to walk in the streets, to let their children out of their sight.
It is regarding times such as these that the Talmud says: There is none upon whom to rely but our Father in Heaven.
There is something that you can do! “The voice is the voice of Jacob, while the hands are the hands of Esau”.
G-d tells us that when Esau raises his bloody reddened hands, Jacob - the Jews - raise their voices in prayer.
Please join us in Shul tonight as we say Tehilim and beseech G-d to put an end to this terror which murders and maims its victims and totally disrupts the daily lives of everyone else.
Wishing our brothers and sisters in Israel a Shabbat of Peace and Tranquility

Power of Positive Thinking Rabbi Yehoshua Gordon
The Rebbe said that G-d grants us a gift when we set aside our own concerns and devote ourselves to others, and then our heart and intellect become refined a thousand-fold. That means a person could spend a thousand hours studying and trying to reach a higher consciousness, but the one who devotes himself to others acquires the same consciousness within the hour. full story
