It’s with great pleasure that we welcome our two incoming Youth Directors - Shaya Greene and Tzemach Yemini.
Tzemach and Shaya, who are experienced Youth Counsellors, have hit the ground running and are extremely enthusiastic. Over the next couple of months they will gradually take over from Brookie in heading up South Head Youth.
In addition they will add new emphasis on our pre- and post-Bar Mitzvah boys and will engage with the Young Adults in our community. We also hope to see them establish more shiurim and learning opportunities in shule for those who seek them.
Please be sure to introduce yourselves. They are really friendly and are wanting to get to know as many of you as possible.
The Shabbat Project is coming to Sydney, and we at South Head are going to have a blast come Shabbat Noach, 24th-25th October!
The Shabbat Project has just one goal: for all Jews everywhere to keep this one Shabbat together.
We at South Head are gearing up to do our part in making this Shabbos as memorable and inclusive as possible, and to facilitate the involvement of every single person associated with South Head Shul.
To this end I have asked Ms Jodi Kofsky to head up a team, and she in turn has put together a really enthusiastic committee. Together we are planning a South Head Shabbat to remember for a very long time.
Commencing this coming Monday, the Committee will be sending weekly updates with details of the various activities planned around the Shabbat Project. Check your “In” box and be sure to grant access to all email coming from shabbatproject@southhead.org. Conversely, if you have any questions, comments or enquiries - that’s the email to address them to.
In the meantime, please make sure you clear the decks and mark off Shabbat Noach - October 24th/25th as the one which we, together with our fellow Jews all over the world, will "Keep It Together".
And remember: “If Israel will keep just one Shabbat properly, Mashiach will come immediately.” (Shemot Rabba 25:121; Yerushalmi, Ta’anit 1:10)
On behalf of the Rebbetzin and all of us at South Head, wishing you a Good & Peaceful Shabbos.
Rabbi Benzion Milecki OAM

Parasha Sheet Ki Teitze
The Mitzvah and the highlight of Rosh Hashana is to hear the Shofar, a simple ceremony of sounding a ram’s horn. Even in ancient days there existed fine musical instruments, yet the refined strains of music of all musical instruments will not do. The commandment of blowing the Shofar specifically requires the use of a simple horn, producing simple sounds. Why? Click here for the answer.
