![]() We are very pleased to welcome to South Head this evening MK Yariv Levin who holds many positions in the Israeli Parliament including Chair of the Likud Yisrael Beitenu Faction. ![]() Mr Levin is a lawyer involved in civil-commercial law and Deputy chairman of the Israeli Bar Association, and he is involved with the Sechar Mitzva Company which runs a fund of donations for legal help for the poor. His interests and fields of involvement also include the Hapoel Sports Association, and the student faction at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. We look forward to hearing him in Shul this evening. At very short notice, and with the generous permission and blessing of my dear Rebbetzen, I was, thank G-d, able to participate in the Bris Milah of our new grandson, Elchonon Dovber in New York. ![]() It was a beautiful occasion, made even more special by Shmueli's appointing me as Sandek. The Sandek is responsible for holding the child, and traditionally also contributes towards the expenses of the Bris. In turn he is blessed with material and spiritual wealth, and is given the capacity to bless others. I therefore take this opportunity of blessing all our wonderful community with material and spiritual plenty. May Hashem be with you always and grant all your good and positive hearts' desires. As we all know, life has its ups, but also unfortunately, it's downs. Although we believe that everything comes from Hashem, things sometimes occur that, as puny mortals, defy our understanding and leave us shell-shocked. While in New York I have been spending time with my dear friend Rabbi Yacov Barber, a great Talmid Chacham and Rabbi of Melbourne's South Caulfield Shul. Rabbi Barber's much beloved Rebbetzin Rivky died tragically of complications arising from leukemia at New York's Sloan Catering hospital two weeks ago, aged 49. She is survived by her husband, her parents and her children - the youngest, a mere nine years old. Words fail at the loss of such a warm, vibrant and deeply caring person who lit up any room she entered. As a tribute to Rebbetzen Rivky, and in honour, yibadel m'chaim l'chaim, of her beloved husband Rabbi Yacov Barber, I will send out next week the Insights into the Hagadah that Rabbi Barber is publishing in his wife's merit. Please print it out and relate one or two of the explanations at your Seder table in Rebbetzen Rivky's merit. No doubt she will invoke Hashem's blessings on all who do so. With best wishes for a Good And Happy Shabbos, on behalf of the Rebbetzen and all of us at South Head. ![]() Mrs Dena Horn On the day of our wedding the Rebbe sent a letter to be hand delivered to my mother. There’s no question what this letter did for my mother — ![]() Pesach is just around the corner!! Join us for our Children's Miniature Seder on 1st day Pesach! We have planned a fantastic range of Pesach Children's Services over the Holy Days so make sure to check the signs in the foyer to know where your child should be - one thing for sure is that South Head is the place where children want to be! Please note all morning services begin at 10.30 and evenings same time as Maariv. This week saw our final Mummy & Me for the Term and it was a great finish to all the beautiful crafts the children have been preparing for Pesach. Please contact me for details of Term 2. Looking forward to seeing you all in Shul and wishing you a Good Shabbos. Brookie and the Youth Crew
![]() Metzora A Pesach Lesson: As the liberation of the Jewish people drew near, the Jewish people received a new command from Hashem: ‘take unto yourselves a lamb and prepare the passover sacrifice’. The lamb was worshipped by the Egyptians as a god, and the significance of this command was to withdraw from idolatry and cleave to the Mitzvot. As a prerequisite to this Mitzvah every Jewish male was required to be circumsized, showing that his ‘eternal covenant’ with Hashem was not merely in his soul, but also in his very flesh. Upon hearing this command, the Jewish men underwent circumcision. By merit of this Mitzvah and the blood of the Korban Pesach (which they were commanded to put onto their doorposts), the Jewish people were saved from the ‘destroyer’ - plague of the Killing of the Firstborn, when the Angel of Death passed over the homes of the Israelites. Please share our Parasha sheet around your Shabbat table and let your family and friends explore the Parasha of the week together with you. Communal News
