It gives us much pleasure to announce the birth of a beautiful new grandson to our dear children Rabbi Sender and Chana Kavka last Shabbos.
We don’t yet know when the Bris will be. However we will celebrate with a Shalom Zachor and L’Chaim at our home tonight from 9.00 - 11.00pm.
If you can possibly drop by we would love to share a l’chaim with you.
May Hashem grant that we should continue to share in each other’s simchas.

Summer is a time when, for many of us, the daily pressures of making a living are somewhat reduced.
Nevertheless, the holiday period should never be looked at as an end in itself. We do not live forty eight weeks a year just to go on four weeks' vacation! Rather, let us use this period as a time of physical, social, mental and spiritual rejuvenation - so that we can return to our daily lives with renewed focus and energy.
This week's parasha begins with the words, "These are the names of the Children of Israel who are coming into Egypt: Reuben, Shimon, Levi, etc". The question is asked, why "coming"? Shouldn't it say, "came"? After all, the Torah is describing an event that has already passed.
The commentaries explain that although the Israelites lived in Egypt for hundreds of years, they never felt it was their real home. They were always conscious of the fact that they were merely "visiting". And as such, they maintained their identity and their values and did not assimilate.
Vacation is a time when many of us travel far away from the normal infrastructure of Jewish life. There may not be a synagogue, easily accessible kosher food outlets, and the positive influence of friends and family to keep us in check. That's fine - we all need a break. However, no matter where we are we, as the Israelites of old, should remember our identity and values: who we are and what we stand for. We should not compromise our values. "What's done on tour, stays on tour" is not a Jewish concept!
On behalf of the Rebbetzen and all of us at South Head, wishing you a healthy and spiritually uplifting summer and a Good Shabbos.

Healthy Humility After Kiddush Shabbat Shiur
This tension between humility and honesty is nothing new. In fact, the Torah proclaims that Moses was the most humble of all men. Was Moses blind to who he really was? He was a man of G-d, the shaper of history, the smartest, the wisest, the greatest— surely any humility he had was either delusion or deceit! In this week’s shiur we explain how self-esteem can coexist with modesty.
