The flimsy Succah is meant to illustrate the tenuous hold that we have, not only on life, but on the people and possessions that we hold so dear. Sitting in the Succah brings home the message that our lives, dear ones and prized possessions are no more than gifts that we should prize to the fullest while we have them - for there is no guarantee as to how long that will be. This sense of appreciation for what we have - the opposite of an attitude of entitlement - is the best possible vehicle for receiving Hashem's blessing in the future. It also leads to a sense of contentment, happiness and joy. With best wishes for a Chag Sameach and Good Shabbos on behalf of the Rebbetzin and all of us at South Head.
